Best Practices
Advice
- Contact Kiki Alimonos kalimonosabec@bellsouth.net regarding your work with your student. We can then get you in touch with the appropriate community professional who can assist you.
Best Practices
- Make this relationship a true commitment–stay for the whole school year at a minimum.
- Model the behavior we are promoting; arrive on time, call in if you will be absent, file your paperwork in a timely manner.
- Take time to get to know your student(s)–have fun with them and spend time learning.
- Arrive prepared with a work plan for the day, or even for several weeks–to keep the sessions lively and on track and to model the concept of planning in advance.
- Find a way to develop communication with the teacher and/or the parent/guardian.
- Ask for help from your agency or ABEC when you need it– there is no reason to stay stuck.
