Lead Task Force

Do you work with lead paint? Renovate old homes? Have you learned that your child has an elevate blood lead level? Do you conduct lead or home inspections? Sell old houses to families with young children? Manage old property? Conduct health education programs for new or expectant parents? Enforce State regulations related to lead? Give legal advice to renters or home buyers about lead poisoning? Conduct research related to lead products, work practices, or poisonings? Simply want to learn more about lead?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then consider yourself invited to a Lead Task Force meeting.

Who we are: A diverse group of professionals and community members who have an interest in lead issues through varied pathways such as housing rehabilitation, renovations, remodeling and painting, property management, children's health, family services, health screenings and health education, environmental regulation, real estate disclosure rules, and legal rights.

What we do: Gather together on a quarterly basis to educate ourselves on current lead-related topics, exchange information and resources, strategize for local policy change and education efforts.

Goal: Primary Prevention Education through housing and health care: "No more band-aids!"

Region covered: Buncombe and Henderson Counties, NC

Subcommittees:

Medical Outreach Subcommittee focuses on collaboration with and education for our medical community regarding lead.
Housing Subcommittee focuses on creating lead-safe housing for all residents of our counties.
