A Perfect Match
The vision of the HUB initiative has been to bring together the many talents and exs and expertise of Asheville and Western North Carolina to create economic development that grows out of the collaboration. Technology experts, artists, meteorologists, entrepreneurs, and academics found the goals they shared for Western North Carolina were a natural fit with RENCI's search for prospective engagement sites.

With these collaborations firmly in place, the Flood Reduction Task Force for the City of Asheville has developed a complete set of recommendations for Asheville City Council to examine. Asheville City Council will use this research to create data-driven policy.

The Media Arts Project, NEMAC, and Elumenati have created a film for the immersive dome platform titled Water in Western North Carolina. This film has received positive reviews at the Digital Earth conference in San Francisco.

The servers that will provide comprehensive geospatial data to the City of Asheville and Buncombe County are already in place at ERC Broadband and connected to the North Carolina Research and Education Network.
