The Integration of WRF Model Forecasts for Mesoscale Convective Systems Interacting with the Mountains of Western North Carolina

Jacob Carly
Department of Atmospheric Sciences
Faculty Mentor : Dr. Douglas Miller, Department of Atmospheric Sciences

wrfThis research involves the investigation of mesoscale convective systems and supercell thunderstorms and their interaction with the mountains of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. Forecasting severe storms in these areas is often a very difficult process. The data gathered on these mesoscale events will be used to help investigate the feasibility of improving the forecast quality of the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) for Western NC.
