Trend Analysis of Visibility Data of Asheville

Brian May
Department of Computer Science
Faculty Mentor : Susan Reiser, Department of Computer Science and Multimedia Arts & Sciences

non ideal dataThis project will determine if there is a trend in visibility data collected in Asheville, NC. It has been shown that air pollution has been increasing in Western North Carolina, and Brian would like to determine if this increase in pollution is translating to a decrease in visibility. Asheville relies heavily on tourism which is linked to the beauty of our natural resources. If it is the case that visibility is decreasing and the trend continues there is a real possibility that tourism will be affected which will result in a negative impact on the regional economy.
